Poland Declines US Request to Deploy Patriot Missiles for War on Iran
Despite claims by US President Donald Trump that the Pentagon maintains an “unlimited” stockpile of weapons, the US-Israeli bombing campaign launched on February 28 has not fully prevented Iran from striking American bases in the region.
Reports indicate that the US requested Warsaw to loan at least two Patriot batteries, along with PAC-3 MSE missiles previously sold to Poland, to support operations against Iran.
“Our Patriot batteries and their armament are used to protect Polish airspace and NATO’s eastern flank. Nothing is changing in this regard, and we are not planning to relocate them anywhere,” Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X on Tuesday.
He added, “Our allies fully understand how important our mission here is. Poland’s security is an absolute priority.”
Since the onset of the conflict, seven US service members have been killed and nearly 350 wounded by Iranian strikes. Iranian missiles and drones have reportedly damaged or destroyed several advanced US radars and an E-3 Sentry AWACS command and control aircraft, according to satellite and on-site evidence.
Trump has also criticized European NATO members for refusing to deploy warships to protect the Strait of Hormuz, even threatening to withdraw from the alliance, which he described as a “paper tiger.” Among the most outspoken opponents of the Iran war is Spain, which has denied US access to its airspace and joint bases for operations targeting Iran.
